Understanding Total Triage

Total Triage will be effective and live from Monday 27th October 2025.

What Is Total Triage?

With Total Triage, every patient request is reviewed by our clinical team before an appointment is booked.
Whether you contact us online, by phone, or in person, your information is passed to a GP or another qualified clinician who decides the best way to help you.

This means you don’t always need to wait for a face-to-face appointment sometimes we can resolve things much faster.

Why Is It Better for Patients?

  • Quicker access to the right care urgent cases are identified quickly, and you’ll be directed to the most suitable service.
  • More convenient many issues can be managed by phone, video, or with advice and a prescription saving you a trip to the surgery.
  • Fair for everyone we can prioritise those who need to be seen most urgently.
  • Simple and flexible contact us online, by phone, or in person whichever works best for you.

How Does It Work?

  1. Contact us, you can use our online form, call, or visit reception.
  2. Tell us briefly what you need help with, you don’t need to share too much detail, just enough for our team to understand your concern.
  3. Our clinical team reviews your request, a GP or nurse looks at your information and decides the best next step.
  4. We get back to you, this could be:
    • A same-day phone or video consultation
    • A face-to-face appointment
    • A prescription or follow-up message
    • Advice or signposting to another service (for example, a pharmacist or NHS 111)

You’ll always be told what will happen next and when you’ll hear from us.
